Mountain Clans walkthrough

Play as Warrior Lord for free healing.
Use Engineer (shooter) as main hero

  • Move points of 25 vs 15 for other dwarf heroes.
  • Allows 3 fighters and focusing on buying only fighter upgrades.
  • Allows swapping into front line to soak some damage while healing one of fighters.
  • Not as strong as warrior hero but still a dwarf, this have increased hp vs other race shooters.
For army, use 3 * Dwarf Kings (warriors from basic dwarf) and fill with axe throwers.
The Alchemists are good but does not help much before they level up and the game is already reolved.

Chapter 1 - The Onslaught

First rounds:
  1. Tromnir is to be lost. Disband a Novice, buy fighter dwarf and run north with your rod bearer hero - Proud Dwarf.
    • Buy two dwarves, take axe thrower and all potions.
    • Rush west towards Troyes city and attack goblins. 
  2. Rod Bearer: sneak through forest and bypass goblins. Head towards Troyes.
    • Main: Attack Spearman and close up to Troyes.
  3. Rod Bearer: move north, skip all enemies.
    • Main: You must capture Troyes this turn. Otherwise, your ally could steal your gold mine.
    • If all done well, you can swap wounded dwarf with Rod Bearer and still attack Troyes twice. First battle is hard but doable. Second is easy, but hide any wounded dwarves, not to lose them.
      • If you are not able to attack Troyes twice, use potions to heal instead of swapping units.
    • Upgrade city and use resurrection potion, so your units would heal on turn end.
  • Next steps are to upgrade your fighters using capital and Troyes for healing and buy Engineer here - remember to upgrade him.
  • Buy more dwarves to swap them for healing.
  • Try to sell spells to Empire.
  • Do not rush, let Empire fight with Legion.
  • If you capture land to fast - map will before you collect requited items.
  • You may need to break alliance with humans to collect banner artifacts and to transform land.
Level goals need:
  • Buy an Engineer hero as your new main.
    • Rename him for easier recognition.
    • Level up to level 3.
      • Banner bearer.
      • Leadership.
  • Liquid Uru Metal Potion, +10 armor, ruins at east edge.
  • Banner of Speed, +10% initiative, west edge, would need to reclaim it from enemies.
  • Banner of Battle, +10% to hit chance, buy for 1000 gp at Galdir's Shop south of your capitol.
  • Tome of Seven Winds - must have on next ocean map.

Chapter 2 - The Well of Fate

First rounds:
  1. Equip banners and restoration potion from capitol.
    • Leave Tome of Seven Winds. Secondary hero would have use of it since there is a lot of water.
      • Take dwarf, giant and buy additional dwarf for party.
      • Go around capitol from the north, take bag with life potion.
      • Attack elf at the west passage - not the one near capitol.
    1. Sell both potions to Frond Alchemist, attack Griffon and take bag with Rust Scroll.
      • Buy a Proud Dwarf (rod bearer) with additional fighter.
      • Attack Elf next to capitol and sleep in capitol for healing.
    2. Proud Dwarf: Move towards your Main hero.
      • Main: give scroll to Proud and wounded dwarf for fresh one.
      • Attack Rossmiel.
    3. Proud Dwarf: sell scroll and move west towards Runic Mana Stone.
      • Main head north-east towards Tyrriella.
      • Build warrior upgrade in capitol. The Brewery.
    4. Flag Runic Mana Stone. 
      • Capture Tyrriella - dwarves will get warrior Upgrade.
    5. Gather Items around Tyrriella and sell them north-west from the city.
      • Move Proud Dwarf towards Tyrriella.
    6. Sell your items and buy a second Engineer with 3 dwarves. Let him level up around capitol.
    • Following turns:
      • When Giant gets wounded, swap him for dwarf and axe man.
      • Main hero need to conquer barbarian lands.
        • He needs large amount of xp. Use helper hero to swap his wounded units.
        • Pay at training camp east of Mellotronburg (barbarian land).  
      • Proud dwarf wants to get:
        • Death Mana Crystal, on map edge behind mountains north from Tyrriella
          • Must kill giant, but there is jewelry worth 300 gold.
        • Gold Mine on obelisk island, far, far north.
          • Use seafaring for him.
        • Rune Mana Crystal on island north from Empire capitol.
        • Death Mana Crystal on small island north of Legion capitol.
      • Buy additional Engineer to protect west. He would use Tome of Seven Winds for ocean travel.
      • Luthon Fort is a trap. The city does not provide any income and is hard to defend.
        • Attack it only if your second hero is ready or when it was captured by Legion. 
      • Use Roc summon spell to scout the ocean to the west.
      • Fighting Legion will ally you with Empire.
    • Later Game: You do not want Empire to clear the map for you.
      • Either block them by surrounding cities or let them fight with the Legion.
    Level goals:
    • Level up main hero to level 5.
      • Pathfinding + leadership (5 units total)
    • Highfather's Potion, +15% health for your main. Ghoul's Lair, north of Connarth (west of Empire).
    • Potion of Fortune, *1,1 chance to hit. Antique Template, east corner.
    • Banner of resistance +20 armor. At Dragon Lair, north-west from Connarth.
    • Banner of protection +10 armor. Bear stack north of Rossmiel. 
      • 30 armor is +42.8% life.
      • Main hero's with Liquid Uru Metal Potion 40 armor is +66.6% 
    • Helm of Purity - sell for 600 gold at next map.

    Chapter 3 - Hela's Abode

    Plan: Get a Gold Mine south of start. Sell items at Ricken's shop to get second hero.
    Main goes west to the Zherun Keep and level up two Flame Throwers. His target Khulna city is protected by Warewolf - immune to weapon attacks. Khulna is border city to Mortis Capitol. Keep it strong.
    Then he must rush north. There is another Mortis city from which they can try to expand and attack.
    Secondary hero will move north to Zayidar city (Rune Mana Crystal). Then go back south for, Ithacora. Only sea separates it from Mortis Capitol so it becomes a front city. No sense to expand here. Would require constant seafaring spell and there ar no mines, crystal or cities beyond it.
    Sail Proud Dwarf around mountains north of your Capitol. Rune mana crystal can be claimed there without a fight. 

    First rounds:
    1. Get all items from Capitol. Remember to equip banners.
      • Get a Tenderfoot.
        • Get two Giants.
          • Giant's attack is earth. Some are stacks immune to normal weapons, and also Mortis could buy such for her heroes.
        • Put your Main in front center!
      • Bypass Bear and attack bear cave (+300 gold and Tome of Elven Lore).
        • Your main takes the damage, keeps party healthy.
      • Buy a Proud Dwarf hero (rod bearer) and give him that starting Warrior.
        • Swap Warrior for Tenderfoot, but this time your main hero goes to the back line.
      • Let your main attack Barbarian on the way to Ricken's shop 
      • Move Proud Dwarf south. There is a gold mine behind Giant.
    2.  Main: Go to Ricken's shop, sell Helm of Purity, Tome of Elven Lore and potion of life.
          • You need 1050 gold
        • Move north-west, towards Zherun Keep. 
      • Proud Dwarf: sail south towards gold mine.
      • Buy another Engineer hero with 1 dwarf and a giant.
        • Head him north, towards Zayidar city. Take a bag with swift potion near Barbarian.
          • Do not attack him.
    3. Main: Capture Zherun Keep. It will give you Life Mana and soon a gold mine at the west.
      • At Zherun Keep buy Third Engineer.
      • Third: use forces from your main to clear peasants on path north.
        • Put the Third hero in front center to soak the damage.
        • Return units to Zherun Keep for healing.
      • Proud Dwarf: sail south towards gold mine
      • Second Engineer, sail north. Do not attack Barbarian on the island nor the Specter stack.
    4. Main: Go along the road. Attack Haunted Halls in this turn. Do not attack goblins, pass little mountain from the north. 
        • you get 500 gold and Banner of Battle.
      • Proud Dwarf: capture gold mine.
      • Second Engineer: Move north by the coast. Sail around Fighter and Marksman. 
        • You finally see your target city of Zayidar.
      • Third Engineer: Get a Giant and a Dwarf
        • Attack goblins on the road.
    5. Third Engineer: Take Banner of Battle from main - can not equip yet.
      • Attack Fighter next to Zherun Keep.
      • Main: Ignore Peasant with Archer stack. Embar and sail west. You head to Kermahvaz city. 
      • Proud Dwarf: Move back towards your capitol. You target Rune Mana Stone behind it.
      • Second: Sail around Marksman. Land next to Zayidar.   
    6. Main: Sail west by the river. You will land just below Kermahvaz without fights.
      • Proud Dwarf: Towards Rune Mana Crystal.
      • Second Engineer: Capture Zayidar.
        • Your Engineer must out shoot enemy Marksman. Target him first.
          • Defender is stronger at bottom place, a Knight. Let him face giant while Dwarf strugles with Fighter.
      • Build Dwarf upgrade, the Brewery.
    7. Main: Sail west along the river. Land just before Kermahvaz and capture it. Note that Mortis forces are already there, and you must end in the city. 
        • Upgrading the city. You will heal here several times.
      • Secondary hero must heal in Zayidar, but he can collect a bag with potion of swiftness near the city.
      • Proud Dwarf - advances towards Rune Mana Crystal - he will reach it in round 15.
      • Third Engineer: Recover at Zherun Keep
    • Following rounds:
      • Main hero must crush Mortis outpost to the north, but be sure to kill her wandering hero.
        • When you do buy another Proud Dwarf to get the gold mine on island in the area.
        • Than go back to block Mortis capitol by capturing city of Khulma. 
      • Third Engineer: Zherun Keep is last city before meeting main Mortis forces. He should wait for your main to come back.
      • Second Engineer: His area is far from mortis, he can clear and level up safely. When done capture Ithacora city southwest from capitol. 
        • It is another border to Mortis, but becasue of sea there should not be much trouble here.
        • Remember to steal spells from Karnelia's tower south of Ithacora city.
    Level goals:
    • Level up main hero to level 7.
      • Natural Armor +20 armor
        • 60 armor total mean +150% life.
      • Might +25 damage - kille nemies before they kill your troops.
    • QuickSilver Potion, +10% initiative for your main. West of mortis capitol, behind Fire Elemental.
    • Vithar's Ichor Potion, +10$ Damage. Antique Ruin, island in west map part on a lake with Kraken.
    • Banner of resistance +20 armor. At Dragon Lair, north-west from Connarth.
    • Banner of protection +10 armor. Bear stack north of Rossmiel. (30 armor is +42.8% life.)
    • Staff of ?? - usefull on next next map.
    • Revive Tenderfoot at your capitol.

    Chapter 4 - Retrived Wisdom

    1. In First round you want to kill both flying Mortis heroes. They are hard to capture over sea.
      • Attack center ship with your Lore master.
      • With King's Guard, bypass ship and attack right Death Knight.
      • In capitol
        • Build Engineer's Guild - Axe man upgrade.
        • Buy 3 Axe Man, 
        • equip banners, items 
        • Put your Engineer in center front, and Figters to the side.
        • You hero armor would soak tons of damage.
      • Let you main hero:
        • Gather items next to capitol - no move cost, than return to capitol.
        • Move to Proud Dwarf (Rod bearer) and swap axeman for Flame Caster.
        • Note that each must have an elemental damage. There are some Wriaths and Warewolfs around.
        • Attack the other Death Knight.
      • Mortis would cast some spell at your main but he should survive.
    2. In second round try to catch remaining enemy ships.
    In following turns. Send your main to the left towards Dokkvimar city. Buy Proud Dwarf there to capture gold mine to the south.

    Send your King's Guard East by the see towards Heljuk City. Your starting Proud Dwarf  sohuld follow him.
